1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy.

2. Definitions

• "Account": The registered profile you create using Google Sign-In to access the App.
• "Content": Any news headlines, summaries, briefings, articles, images, metadata, or text displayed in the App.
• "Briefing": A concise, factual summary and synthesized headline generated by NewsOS using Large Language Models from ingested news reporting.
• "Third-Party News Provider": External news publishers and syndication feeds from which the App ingests public news content and metadata.
• "Content Provenance": The attribution metadata provided for each briefing, displaying the original publisher name, publication timestamp, and outbound link to the original article.
• "Advertising Partners": Third-party advertising networks (specifically Meta Audience Network operated by Meta Platforms, Inc.) that deliver and measure advertisements when advertising services are enabled.
• "User" / "you": Any individual who accesses or uses the App.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the legal age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use the App. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you meet this eligibility requirement and have full legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

4. Account Registration and Authentication

• Accounts are created and authenticated exclusively through Google Sign-In.
• You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and Google account credentials.
• You agree to provide accurate profile information and notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.

5. User Responsibilities and Prohibited Activities

You agree to use the App solely for personal, non-commercial news consumption. You agree NOT to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or derive the source code of the App.
• Use automated bots, spiders, scrapers, or crawlers to access, scrape, or extract Content from the App.
• Interfere with, disrupt, or place an unreasonable load on our servers, networks, or APIs.
• Artificially generate ad clicks, automate impressions, or tamper with advertising slots or measurement systems.
• Attempt to bypass or circumvent authentication, security measures, or rate limiting.
• Use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, or malicious purpose.

6. Intellectual Property and Transformative Summarization

• NewsOS Platform and Synthesis: The App interface, visual design, software code, logos, trademarks, recommendation algorithms, and the presentation format of AI-synthesized briefings are the proprietary property of NewsOS.
• Original Publisher Rights: All original third-party news reporting, full articles, original publisher headlines, and trademarks remain the sole intellectual property of their respective news publishers. NewsOS does not claim ownership of underlying third-party news reporting or publisher trademarks.
• Transformative Fair Summarization: NewsOS creates concise, informative briefings of factual news events accompanied by prominent publisher attribution and outbound links to original articles, designed to facilitate factual discovery and refer interested readers directly to primary publisher sources.

7. News Sourcing, Automated Ingestion, and Content Nature

News content in the App is ingested from diverse external news publishers and processed using automated AI workflows.

• Automated Ingestion: NewsOS automatically retrieves publicly available news items from third-party news feeds.
• AI-Assisted Synthesis: NewsOS synthesizes facts into short news briefings using Large Language Models to provide fast, accessible overviews.
• Editorial Independence: NewsOS is an automated technology platform, not a newspaper or investigative newsroom. We do not independently verify, investigate, or endorse opinions expressed in source news coverage.
• Outbound Links: Clicking "Open original article" connects you to the third-party publisher's website. NewsOS is not responsible for external website content, security, paywalls, or privacy practices.

8. Advertising and Third-Party Sponsored Content

• When advertising services are enabled, the Service may be supported in part by advertising revenue. The App may display native or sponsored advertisements delivered by third-party advertising networks (specifically Meta Audience Network).
• Advertisements are provided by third-party advertisers. NewsOS does not endorse, warrant, or guarantee any third-party products, services, or claims advertised within the App.
• Interacting with or clicking on an advertisement connects you with third-party advertisers subject to their independent terms and privacy policies.

9. AI-Generated Briefings and Output Disclaimer

The App utilizes artificial intelligence and Large Language Models (LLMs) to synthesize news briefings and personalize your reading feed. By using NewsOS, you acknowledge and agree to the following AI-specific terms:

• Informational Nature: NewsOS briefings are algorithmically generated summaries intended solely for general informational purposes.
• Potential for Inaccuracies: While our AI systems are designed for factual fidelity and conciseness, automated language models may occasionally simplify, omit nuance, or misinterpret facts from source material. NewsOS does not warrant that AI briefings are completely accurate, error-free, or exhaustive.
• Non-Reliance / Professional Advice Disclaimer: NewsOS briefings do NOT constitute professional, financial, investment, legal, tax, or medical advice. You should never make financial, legal, or health decisions based solely on an AI-synthesized briefing.
• Verification Recommendation: Users are strongly encouraged to verify important facts and read full original reporting by tapping the Source button ("About this briefing") and visiting the original publisher's article.
• Algorithmic Recommendations: Feed personalization reflects mathematical topic similarity and does not constitute an editorial endorsement of any viewpoint or publisher.
• User Feedback & Reporting: If you identify a materially inaccurate or problematic AI briefing, you may report it to newsossupport@gmail.com for review.

10. Service Availability and Modifications

We strive to provide continuous and reliable service, but the App is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, update, or discontinue any feature, feed, or aspect of the Service at any time without prior notice or liability.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, NewsOS and its officers, directors, employees, and agents shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of data, loss of goodwill, device malfunction, business interruption, or any decisions made or actions taken in reliance on AI-generated briefings, automated summaries, or third-party news content, arising out of your access to, use of, or inability to use the App, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless NewsOS and its affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your misuse of the Service, or your infringement of any third-party intellectual property or privacy right.

13. Account Termination and Deletion

• Termination by NewsOS: We may suspend or terminate your account at our sole discretion if you violate these Terms, engage in fraud, or pose a security risk.
• Termination by You: You may terminate your account at any time by deleting your account through the in-app settings or via our Account Deletion Page.

14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law principles. The courts in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App.

15. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the complete and exclusive agreement between you and NewsOS regarding the Service.
